We can't do without aircon, literally. We don't like to sweat. Singapore is not just hot but also humid.
Unfortunately, cool environment with aircon comes at a price - the air is drier.
Singapore's relative humidity is about 84%. In aircon, it's about 40% - 60%.
Work - 8 hours
Sleep - 8 hours
If you work in an aircon place and sleep in an aircon room, you will be exposed to dry air for up to 16 hours a day.
So if you feel that your skin is dry, it can be 2 possibilities:
- Your skin is dry by nature
- Your skin is dry because the aircon sucks moisture from your skin
(If your skin is dry, you should get a mild facial cleanser that is suitable for dry skin.)
If you work or sleep in an aircon environment, it is strongly advised that you use a moisturizer.
Many people only think that moisturizer is just to keep the skin hydrated but...
... do you know that moisturizers can also help to reduce wrinkles?
Yes, this is true!
Moisturizers are a simple and easy way to keep wrinkles out. But many of you don't know that!
In 2010, The British Journal of Dermatology published an 8-year study (funded by Olay).
- Comparison of number of wrinkles and levels of skin hydration
- 122 women ranging from 10 to 72 years old
- Over 8 years
- Led by Dr Greg Hillebrand, principal scientist for Olay
On average, for a 28 year old woman till she's 36
- 52% increase in visible wrinkle [If dry skin]
- 22% increase [If skin is well hydrated]
Conclusion of the study:
Women with better hydrated skin (or face) developed lesser wrinkles over time than those with dry skin.

Let's take a look at the example between grape and raisin.
As you know, raisin is a dried grape. So a grape has moisture while a raisin has most moisture removed.
It is very clear that the raisin looks more wrinkled.
Dry skin will make your skin look more wrinkled. Hydrated skin will make your skin less wrinkled.
So if you want to look younger and have less wrinkles, start using a moisturizer now!
We shower (or wash our face) twice a day. Sometimes more.
But do you know that when you shower (or wash your face), the oil (sebum) that protects your skin is gone and moisture starts to escape.
So that's the reason why some people feel that their skin is very dry right after that.
And in Singapore, after we bathe, we don't want to sweat, so some of us hide in the aircon room.
Now, that's bad. Your skin is already dry from the shower (or washing your face) and the aircon further strips more moisture from your skin.
After bath (or washing your face), it is important to replace the moisture that you have lost using a moisturizer.
You should also consider FrozenAge facial cleanser that does not make your face dry after cleansing.
Dr. Debbie Palmer, dermatologist and founder of Replere Skin Care, says that:
"If your skin is dry, it can actually worsen your acne."
Not only oily skin can cause breakouts but dry skin too.
"Dry skin is damaged skin" - Kelly M. Cordoro, an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Virginia.
The oil (sebum) on your face keeps bacteria off and carry dead skin cells away.
Dry skin has less oil (sebum) and thus less ability to keep off bacteria + more dead skin cells.
This presents a good environment for the bacteria to multiply, causing acne and pimples.
If you have acne and pimples (and also dry skin), FrozenAge facial cleanser can help you.
Compared to normal and oily skin, dry skin will get these more easily:
- Inflammation or redness
Dry skin is a common trigger for eczema. Eczema is quite common - I know of some friends who have it.
Applying a moisturizer helps the skin to form a barrier against the hostile environment, preventing irritation, inflammation, and itch.
New York based dermatologist, Dr. Whitney Bowe, mentioned 2 things:
- Makeup sticks to dry skin
- Makeup seeps into fine lines
In general, dry skin + makeup will make the skin even worse since the skin is already dry.
But some women must go out with makeup, so it's best to put on moisturizer and wait for 5 mins for your skin to absorb first, before putting foundation.
I came across this interesting article. It's about this guy who doesn't care about his skin in the past.
But Dr. Terrence Keaney, a dermatologist specializing in men’s skin, told him that hydrating the skin prevents premature skin aging and keeps wrinkles off.
... he decided to try and he was glad he did it.
In 2 weeks, he noticed a remarkable difference:
- His skin doesn't feel that dry after cleansing
- His skin is softer and more supple
- Less fine lines on his face
- His skin just looks and feels better
He recommends that everyone should try it.
I think he's right. Adding moisturizer to your daily skin care regime will make a huge difference.
3 things define FrozenAge moisturizer:
- Contains a special ingredient called Copper Peptide Complex (What exactly is this?)
- Water-based (non-oily)
- High absorption
Copper peptide complex: endless benefits for your skin
I love this and I think you gonna love this like me too. There is a host of benefits that you will be interested in.
In the 1970s, Dr. Loren Pickart, a biochemist, discovered that Copper Peptide Complex can regenerate tissue. He has published numerous research papers.
(Dr. Loren Pickart has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Francisco.
He is a member of the Wound Healing Society, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the American Chemical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.)
Since then, a lot of research and clinical studies have proven the benefits of Copper Peptide Complex:
- Reduce scar tissue and regenerate normal skin tissue (e.g. reduce acne scars)
- Speed up wound healing (e.g. acne and pimple wound)
- Reduce aging and reduce wrinkles
- Promote collagen and elastin production (e.g. increase skin elasticity)
- Improve skin appearance
Here are some evidence of the benefits:
Skin Remodelling and Wound Healing
Research Papers on various benefits such as reducing wrinkles and fine lines, increasing skin elasticity and collagen, and better skin appearance
So what this means for FrozenAge moisturizer?
Not only it hydrates your skin but also provides what you want - skin regeneration, repair, reduce wrinkles and scars and better skin in general.
This is what I really like about this moisturizer!
Being water based, it is very suitable for oily skin as it does not clog pores.
And of course, it is not sticky as well.
High absorption is important as your skin will be able to maximise the moisturizer's capability. Otherwise, whatever you apply will be wasted.
As usual, I went to ask Dasmond Koh what he feels about the moisturizer.
[Me] "What do you like about the moisturizer?"
[Dasmond] "I like it that it is water based, which means it is not oily. And also its absorption is high!"
What I feel about the moisturizer:
My face is very oily which I kind of like it. I know many people don't like oily skin but I like it. The oil helps to protect and moisture the skin.
After cleansing my face in the morning and night using the cleanser, I will always put on the moisturizer.
Now, you may ask:
My face is already oily. Why do I still put on the moisturizer?
It is because after shower, the skin is stripped of oil so moisture evaporates.
Yes, my skin is oily. But even in aircon places, moisture will still escape.
So if your skin is dry and you are not putting on moisture, you should really do it!
I would say yes.
There are many types of classification but over my years of experience, I identified 5 types:
- Combination (hardest to deal with)
- Sensitive (also hard to deal with)
We have not talked much about normal, combination and sensitive skin.
But yes, FrozenAge moisturizer is suitable.
Especially for sensitive skin, the copper peptide complex is able to provide healing abilities and improve the sensitive skin.
It takes time of course, can be months or years.
FrozenAge Moisturizer not only hydrates your skin but also repairs your scars and marks on your skin!

Either way, if you have any questions, I will be around today to answer!
Does swimming make your skin dry?
It might sound counter intuitive. I am always in the water, how can my skin be dry?
Firstly, the oil (sebum) on your skin will always be removed by the water.
Secondly, your skin is not able to absorb the water this way!
If you are a frequent swimmer, I will recommend putting on moisturizer after each swim.
Does drinking more water make our skin more hydrated (or help in dry skin)?
Contrary to belief, no! Drinking water is not effective in giving moisture to your skin.
Drinking water is good for you.
But if people tell you that your skin is dry and you have to drink more water, it is not true.
If your skin is dry, drinking water does not help. Fortunately, moisturizer helps!
